Registration
Every family pays an annual fee and registers by the August 15th deadline or pays a $10/day late fee. Classes go from 10am-2:30pm. The classes are filled on a first come, first served basis, with teachers getting access to registration first. Each class has minimum and maximum student enrollment level, as established by the mentors and supported by the Board. Classes may be cancelled or students may be turned away, depending on registration responses.
Waiting List
Any student that registers for a class that is full will be placed on a waiting list. If another students drop the class or more room is made available students will be added to the class based on registration date.
Tuition
Tuition for each class is due two weeks before class starts. There will be a late fee if tuition is paid after that date. If you need to make payments, regular automatic monthly payments, or monthly postdated checks will be accepted with prior approval.
Refunds
We are not able to guarantee refunds at this time. This is due to the cost cutting measures that we use and our care not to charge more than each person’s fair share. If unforeseen circumstances (medical or job related) occur we will see what we can do with what hasn’t already been spent, but no refund should be counted on.
Other Fees
Some classes have additional costs for such things as supplies or books. These costs are not included with registration or tuition. These additional family costs will be made known during the registration process.
Associated Activites
Classes that are not an official part of Freedom Scholars, but that include many of the same students may exist. This normally occurs when a number of students want a specific class and we are not able (because of time, space, or financial commitments) able to have them at co-op. Some examples are:
- Physics
- Writing
- Homeschool Ski
-Book groups
Student Participation
When a student enrolls in a class, it is expected that he/she will participate in class and make every effort to do the outside work. Students can expect that they will have out-of-class reading and writing assignments. The younger children will have very little if any. We have two types of classes available for our scholar age. Please pick classes that coincide with the amount of work desired, but all scholar classes will include some at home reading and writing. Each mentor will present the specific expectations in class.
Behavior and Religion
We are a Christian based co-op. We believe that the Lord has called us to homeschool and to start this co-op. We strive to teach everything with the Spirit and references Will be made to the Lord, His goodness and His will for us. We are Not exclusive. Even if you are not Christian, you are welcome to join. We believe the Lord has asked us to love everyone and treat each other as we would want to be treated. Please know that while at co-op we will require everyone to act respectfully. Regardless of religious background. This is a place that everyone should feel comfortable expressing their religious beliefs and be assured of respect, even if those beliefs are different than others. Teachers will teach Christian principles without going into the specific doctrine of any one church. Students may bring up doctrine in a respectful way.
Swearing, taking the Lord's name in vain, wearing immodest clothing, bullying, name-calling, or any other act that is against Christian values is prohibited.
Out-of-control behavior that cannot be stopped, continually ignoring adults, or any behavior that is a danger to ones-self or others is not allowed.
Step one: The board will inform you of the problem and allow time to fix it.
Step two: If after a reasonable amount of time and work the problem does not resolve, we will request you take a leave of absence from co-op to resolve the issue in your own home. (refunds cannot be made in this situation as supplies have already been purchased)
Electronic Devices
No children are allowed to use electronic devices except littles during mom’s group, and/or laptops or other devices that have a specific use during the class that they were brought to be used in.
Supervision
Students and/or younger siblings are not to be left in the building or on the grounds unattended. Please ensure that your children are in class or that they have proper supervision during the school day. Each family should discuss with their children the importance of obeying the adult in charge.
Lunches
Students should bring their own lunches. We require that students bring only water to drink.
Parental Involvement
A lot of work goes into this group. No one can do all of it and still have time for their family. We care about you and your families. We would love to let everyone just help, or just drop off their children, but we can't. Our families would fall apart under the pressure, and we must put them first. This means that if you would like to participate you must contribute. Hopefully for most this will mean teaching, as that is obviously what we have the most need of, however, we understand that everyone is at a different place in their lives and so if you want to contribute in another way, we will work with you.
No drop-offs, except for the determination by the board that a 12-18 year old(s) is mature enough to participate, help clean, and be an asset to the community on their own.
School Family Gatherings
Throughout the year the board and/or mentors may coordinate parent nights and student and family gatherings. These provide families an opportunity to mingle throughout the year. Functions range from academic settings, informational meetings, and student-led evenings, to purely social gatherings.

Cleaning Responsibilities
We love that we have an affordable place to meet. And we want to keep it that way. We must keep a great relationship with the building owners. This means cleaning up after ourselves, treating the property that is there with respect, keeping track of our children so that they are not where they shouldn't be, and treating any of the building workers who come in during our time with kindness and gratitude.
This year we are requiring all families to bring a tote to keep track of their personal belongings and to facilitate the cleaning process.
Training Requirements
Mom's Group is our method to bring the group to the next level. This is where we discuss teaching and learning styles and make plans to improve in the future. This is where the training and mentoring of each other, helping each other to reach higher and become better occur.
We believe that our children aren't the only ones that will benefit from peer interaction and challenges that help them to reach their full potential. As moms we have a lot to give and share that can lift others up and a lot to gain from being lifted ourselves. This is the key to the future. The way we can keep improving and getting better each year. It is required for teachers and highly recommended for all moms.
